As the original week for this workshop holiday sold out within a few hours, Marie has decided to hold a second FAIRISLE IN THE LAKES workshop holiday.
This special four night workshop holiday will be held at the beautiful Eltermere Inn in the Lake District The workshop each day will be held at The Eltermere and during our stay we will enjoy a visit to Farfield Mill, a heritage mill in Sedbergh and a gentle guided walk led by Alison O'Neill of The Shepherdess, who will tell of her life as a sheep farmer in this beautiful part of England. The Eltermere Inn is stunning small country hotel in the heart of the Lake District National Park and has just been recently renovated to a very high standard, all the 12 bedrooms are impeccably decorated and furnished and the food served is simply delicious.

FAIRISLE IN THE LAKES - A handknitted Fairisle project using my new yarn which will be launched at the end of September. More information and photographs of the projects will be publiished later in the year.
The holiday is priced per room type as The Eltermere has five different standard of rooms.
PREMIER PLUS - £1450 per person - 2 rooms available (double room, single occupancy). A deposit of £700 must be paid on booking to secure a place, the balance of £750 to be paid 12 weeks prior to start of holiday.
PREMIER - £1300 per person - 2 rooms available (double room, single occupancy). A deposit of £600 must be paid on booking to secure a place, the balance of £700 to be paid 12 weeks prior to start of holiday.
SUPERIOR PLUS - £1150 per person - 3 rooms available (double room, single occupancy). A deposit of £500 must be paid on booking to secure a place, the balance of £650 to be paid 12 weeks prior to start of holiday.
SUPERIOR - £1050 per person - 3 rooms available (double room, single occupancy). A deposit of £500 must be paid on booking to secure a place, the balance of £550 to be paid 12 weeks prior to start of holiday.

The Eltermere is a very special hotel which lies nestled in the beautiful Langdale Valley in the stunning village of Elterwater. The hotel is surrounded by the majestic Langdale Pikes and has uninterrupted views over the lake at Eltermere. It has had a long history with the original part of the Eltermere starting life as a farmhouse with a collection of barns dating back to the late 14th Century. In 1756, William Robinson remodelled the property into a more refined country residence which created its present gentrified look without loosing any of the original character. It remained a private home until the 1950's when it was turned into a country house hotel.
The two PREMIER PLUS rooms are called LINGMOOR and LOUGHRIGG. Both have stunning views over Eltermere and are beautiful very spacious rooms with a super kingsize bed, a sofa, window seats and a very large sumptuous bathroom with an extra large shower cubicle and free standing bath. The two PREMIER rooms are called WETHERLAM and ROBIN GHYL. Both have stunning views over Eltermere and are beautiful spacious rooms with a super kingsize bed (four poster in ROBIN GHYL), window seats and a lovely contemporary en-suite bathroom. WETHERLAM has the option of being made into a twin room and please note that this room is located on the second floor. The three SUPERIOR PLUS rooms are called DEER BIELD, COCKLY MOSS and STONE ARTHUR. Two have stunning views over Eltermere and the other over the glorious gardens. All three are beautiful rooms with a king size bed (and a lovely contemporary en-suite bathroom. STONE ARTHUR and DEER BIELDS have the option of being made into a twin room and please note that DEER BIELDS located on the second floor. The three SUPERIOR rooms are called TOM HEIGHTS, GILL GRAINS and WILLY GOODWALLER. All three have different views, TOM HEIGHTS has amazing views of the Langdales, GILL GRAINS of the Eltermere terrace and WILLY GOODWALLER of the side garden. These lovely double bedrooms with king size beds also have individual contemporary en-suite bathrooms with WILLY GOODWALLER having an elegant free standing bath. The restaurant at The Eltermere is renowned for it's excellent cooking whilst offering a simple menu. Chef only uses locally sourced produce with fish coming from the coast at Fleetwood, cheeses from Staveley and vegetables from the Eltermere garden were possible.
Farfield Mill arts, craft and heritage centre is housed in a restored Victorian Woolen mill in Sedbergh in the Yorkshire Dales. We will have a tour of the mill and heritage displays and see the old looms at work. There will also be a talk on the history of the mill and the 'Terrible Knitters of Dent'. Afterwards there will be a chance to look at the exhibitions and buy art and crafts from the resident artists. Lunch will be at the lovely THREE HARES CAFE in Sedbergh.
Alison O'Neill is a Shepherdess, mother and mountain woman bred from farming stock. She is a third generation hill farmer, rooted to the land raising sheep, growing wool and working with tweed. As well as hill farming, Alison has developed a successful tweed business, designing and making beautiful bespoke items. Alison will be leading a gentle walk whilst talking about her life in the hills and love of the Lakes and of wool.
Monday 3rd/10th December 2018
Arrival after 2pm. We will settle into our rooms in the lovely Eltermere Inn. Anyone arriving earlier will not be able to check into their room, but can take advantage of looking around the pretty village of Elterwater or relax in the lounge area of the inn and enjoy a drink. We will meet at reception at 7.00pm for an introduction to the workshop and an 'any questions' session. We will have dinner at 7.30pm.
Tuesday 4th/11th December 2018
After breakfast we will start the workshop at 10am. We will break for lunch at 1pm and then continue the workshop until 5.30pm. Tea and cake will be served mid afternoon and dinner will be at 7.30pm.
Wednesday 5th/12th December 2018
After breakfast we will travel to Farfield Mill in Sedbergh. Here will have a tour of the mill with a demonstration of the working looms. We will also have a talk on the history of the mill and about the 'Terrible Knitters of Dent'. Afterwards there will be a chance to look at the exhibitions and buy art and crafts from the resident artists and designers. Lunch will be at the lovely Three Hares Cafe in Sedbergh and then we will travel back to The Eltermere in time for tea and cake and to continue the workshop. Dinner will be at 7.30pm.
Thursday 6th/13th December 2018
After breakfast we will be met by Alison O'Neill who will lead a gentle walk along the river - subject to the weather. We will be back in time for lunch at The Eltermere and then we will continue the workshop in the afternoon. Dinner will be at 7.30pm.
Friday 7th/14th December 2018
After breakfast, you will check out of your room and we will say our goodbyes.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF BOOKING
A non refundable deposit stated above must be paid at time of booking to secure your place, with the balance being payable no later than 12 calendar weeks before the start date of the holiday.
In the event of your cancellation, the following fees will apply: 39 - 52 weeks prior to start date, full deposit, 26 - 38 weeks prior to start date, 50% of full price, 12 - 25 weeks prior to start date 75% of full price, 0 - 12 weeks prior to start date, 100% of price.
In the unlikely event that the holiday has to be cancelled by Marie Wallin Designs Ltd, then you will receive your deposit or total payment in full.
Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from The Eltermere on arrival and departure days.
Accommodation, breakfast, dinner at The Eltermere for 4 nights and 3 lunches are included in the cost of the holiday, together with all taxes.
Guests will be able to use The Eltermere's complimentary wifi within the hotel.
All drinks and any extras must be paid for by guests separately on checking out.
Guests are responsible for their own medical and travel insurance.
One guided tour and one guided walk are included in the holiday. Admission and travel to and from Farfield Mill is included.
Guests are recommended to bring wellies or stout boots and a warm coat for the walk (weather permitting).
If a guest requires any special assistance or has any special physical or dietary needs, this must be made clear at the time of booking by email.
